Mission: Mission 2: Escort

OOC: Pike; This post will be set before Underway #1 & #2

Jack was in his quarters finishing making dinner, it was getting close 1900. He was wearing a pair of black dress pants and a light blue silk button up shirt.

Time had gotten away from Tara as she noticed it was almost time to go. She quickly got dressed then changed what she was wearing. She was surprised that she was a little nervous about this dinner. She finally decided on a flowy black pant suit. She checked herself once more before walking out of her quarters. After a while, she stepped up to Pike's door and rang the chime and waited.

Jack poured two glasses of Bajorian spring wine as he heard the chime, he walked over and pressed the code to un lock the door, smiling "Welcome Tara, please come in."

Tara smiled, "Thank you." She stepped in as she glanced around his quarters. She hadn't seen his quarters before, "I hope I'm not late. Time seems to pass very quickly."

"Welcome" Jack watched her for a second then stepped away from the doorway letting the door close "No you are not late." He walked over grabbing the two glasses "Care for some Bajorian spring wine?" Jack held out a glass to her.

"Yes...thank you." She took the glass from him and took a sip. It had been a long time since she had one. Tara chuckled to herself, amused by how nervous she was. A feeling that she was not accustomed to.

Jack turned to look at her "Are you ok Tara?" He held his glass in his hand standing there.

Tara got all wide eyed. She smiled, "No, I mean yes, I'm fine. It's been a while since I've done this I guess." Tara took another sip of her drink, "So, what's for dinner?"

Jack nodded then smiled "I understand, it's been awhile for me too." He then reached over taking hold of her hand then carefully lead her over to the table "How does Banean stew sound?"

"Actually" Tara thought for a moment, "I've never had it before. But it does smell good." Mac never cooked for her so this was a nice change.

Jack had stopped at the table putting his glass down "It is pretty good, I have had it a few times." He had let go of her hand then pulled out the chair for her.

"I'll take your word." Tara shifted slightly to the left and then sat down once the chair was out, "Thank you." She pulled the silverware down to her slightly, "You know? I cannot remember the last time someone made dinner for me."

Jack raised an eyebrow "Sorry to hear that no one has for you in a very long time." He brought the big bowl of stew over to the table, then grabbed the carafe holding the wine, refilling both glasses, he then placed two normal size bowls onto the table, offering one to her "You first."

"Thanks." She prepared her food, then put her napkin on her lap and waited for him to do so as well. The nerves had subsided finally.

"Welcome" He put some of the stew into his bowl then after taking a small bite and chewing it, he looked at her "So how was your day Tara?"

Tara shrugged, "Uh, you know, it was a day no different from the rest. All physicals are complete and I'm in process of getting sickbay ready for our next mission. Other than that, my day has been good. How about you? Your new XO seems to have settled into her position."

After a couple more spoonfuls of food and a sip of wine, Jack spoke "Just getting ready for the mission of escorting the Apollo to the Badlands. Yes the Commander seems to have been."

"Badland?" She takes a bite of her stew, "The mission sounds simple enough."

Jack chuckled a little "Hopefully that the mission will be, but one never really knows with the Badlands."

She smiled, "I was being sarcastic. I'm not real crazy about plasma storms and funnel clouds and I'd certainly hate to lost in there."

Jack smiled back "True there, don't think many people are too keen on plasma storms. So what do you think of the stew?"

"It's very good. I am impressed to say the least." She joked, "Maybe you should cook for the ship instead of that stuff they call food." She wasn't crazy about th ship's food.

"That would be a big crew morale boost there." Jack started laughing, he then paused "But yeah lot of people are not big fans of replicated food."

"At least it's healthy." She ate some more of the stew, "I'll have to give my brothers this recipe." Tara chuckled, "This would be all gone in a flash if my brothers were here."

"Oh yeah and why's that? Your brothers big eaters I take it?" Jack sat there looking at her.

"Big eaters? Oh yeah but you wouldn't know it." She cursed under her breath, "Damn metabolism. Gotta love them."

Jack let out a short laugh "Yeah I had pretty good metabolism myself, about 20 years ago." He finished his bowl "Care for more stew or wine?"

Tara chuckled a little, "More wine would be nice."

Jack nodded then poured more wine into both glasses "Are you enjoying yourself tonight?"

"So far." She smiled, "Good food, great company. What more can a girl ask for?" She took a sip of her wine, "And you? Enjoying yourself?"

Jack took a sip of wine "Yes that I am enjoying myself." He then stood up grabbing the dishes "Let me clean up this, why don't you sit on the couch and relax."

"Oh, okay." She was going to offer to help, "If you're sure." She picked up her glass of wine and moved to the couch and waited.

A few minutes later Jack stepped out from the kitchen having cleaned up everything, he was carrying another glass of wine "You are my guest, so there was no need but thanks."

"No problem." She shifted in her seat so she could see him better when sat down.

Jack sat his glass down onto the table then sat down on the couch near her "So Tara, what would you like to discuss?"

"Well." She thought for a moment, "You can tell me something about you. Like, do you have any brothers or sisters? I know you have cousins."

Jack looked at her "No I have no siblings, also my parents where not in Star Fleet ever in their lives, and even though many in my family have entered Star Fleet, my parents at first was not too keen on me joining."

"Yeah?" She paused for a moment, "Neither of my parents were in Starfleet but they never stopped any of us from joining. They were hoping though that my brothers would choose the medical field but only one of them did. Bryce is the only one who chose it. Tameara followed my mothers path and wasn't planning to join Starfleet. And now, she's also in Starfleet. I'm okay with that but with us being identical twins, people get confused until they look in my eyes...Tameara wasn't born with my unique eye color."

Jack had taken another sip of wine while he listened to her "What do you mean there by the unique eye color?"

She looked at him a bit puzzled, "You haven't noticed? My left eye is green and my right eye is hazel. The hazel eye sometimes looks like the other one. It's called Heterochromia."

He placed his glass down then moved over leaning closer to take a look "I do now see that your eyes are two different colors." Jack then kissed her on the lips.

Tara was pleasantly surprised. She smiled, then initiated the second kiss.

Jack kissed her again then smiled, he held out his hand "Care to dance Tara?"

It had been a while since she danced with anyone, "I'd love to." She took his hand and got up from her chair.

He smiled as he pulled her close to him putting his arms around her waist "Computer play some slow Earth music."

Tara put her arms gently around his neck as the slow music began to play. Her eyes locked onto his and she smiled. She was feeling very relaxed with him.

Jack looked at her and smiled back as they dance to a couple songs "What are you thinking?" He finally asked her.

"I'm thinking that I could get used to this." Her expression became somewhat serious, "It's been a long time since I've felt like this."

He looked at her "I could get used to this myself." After a couple songs the music kept going but Jack stopped then lead her over to the couch, he then sat down and pulled her onto his lap "Yeah it's been many of moons since I have myself."

She put her arms around his neck, "I've really enjoyed myself this evening."

Jack gave her a big smile "I have enjoyed myself as well." He paused for a moment "So...Ms.Romaine..would you like to be the Captain's woman?"

"The Captain's woman? Hmm, I'll have to think about it." She laughed, "I'm kidding. I'd love to be the Captain's woman."

Jack sat there looking at her for a moment or two before speaking, "That's good to know that you do." He placed his hand on her cheek.

She smiled at him then went in for another kiss. She was happy again, something she hadn't felt for a long time.

Jack still had his hand on her cheek when he kissed her back, he sat there looking at her "So...what would you like to do now?"

"Oh, I'm sure we can think of maybe getting to know each other better." She continued to smile.

"That sounds good to me Tara." He leaned back against the couch "You are welcome to stay the night if you would like to."

"What kind of woman do you think I am?" She laughed, "I'm kidding. I was hoping that you'd ask."

Jack smiled "That's good that you would.
